These answers cover a first visit, what to wear, dry Thai versus oil, sauna use, and booking at our Belconnen clinic. Always tell the therapist about injuries, pregnancy or medical conditions before you start.
Booking and the clinic
- How do I book?
- Call 02 6251 6339 or 0488 998 798. Walk-ins are welcome if a therapist is available. Calling first is safer.
- What are your hours?
- Seven days, 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Shop 6, 36 Weedon Close, Belconnen ACT 2617.
- Do you only offer therapeutic massage?
- Yes. This is a strictly therapeutic clinic.
- Can I bring a child?
- We accept bookings for children aged 6 years and older.
- Do you sell gift vouchers online?
- Not at the moment. Gift vouchers are available instore only.
First visit
- What should I expect?
- Tell the therapist where you feel tight and what pressure you prefer. Traditional Thai uses rhythmic pressure and assisted stretching. Oil treatments use longer gliding strokes on the table. Speak up if anything feels too strong — good pressure should not be sharp pain.
- Do I undress for Traditional Thai Massage?
- Underpants required. You may wear a loose T-shirt as well if you prefer. Speak with the therapist on arrival if you are unsure.
- What about oil massages?
- Underpants required. Oil treatments are performed with draping. You will stay covered.
- What should I wear?
- Underpants required. Bring a loose T-shirt if you want extra cover for dry Thai. Remove jewellery if you can.
- Should I eat first?
- Have a light meal 1–2 hours before. A very full stomach is uncomfortable during stretches.
- Will I be sore afterwards?
- Some people feel looser and calm. Others notice mild next-day soreness, similar to stretching. Drink water after your session.
Treatments
- What is the difference between dry Thai and oil massage?
- Dry Traditional Thai uses pressure and yoga-like stretches, with little or no oil. Oil massage uses warm plant-based oil and flowing strokes for relaxation or specific muscle work.
- Can I add oil to a dry massage?
- Yes. Oil versions of Traditional Thai and Head, Shoulders and Back are available at the oil price.
- What oil do you use?
- Plant-based oil. If your skin is sensitive we can use baby oil, or you may bring your own.
- Is Thai massage supposed to hurt?
- It can feel deep, especially if you are tight, but it should not be painful. Ask for lighter pressure at any time.
- Which treatment should I book?
- Choose dry Thai if you feel stiff and want stretching. Choose oil if you want to switch off. Choose remedial, sports or deep tissue for a specific sore area. Unsure — say so when you call and we will help you pick a time and style.
Sauna
- Can I use the sauna without a massage?
- Yes. Sauna only is $15 per 15 minutes, plus $5 for a towel.
- Is the sauna included with a massage?
- No. With a massage the sauna is $10 per 15 minutes and towels are included.
- How long should I stay in?
- About 15–20 minutes is enough for most people. Do not overdo it.
- Any precautions?
- Avoid alcohol before or after. Drink water. If you are pregnant or have a condition such as low blood pressure, heart issues or feel unwell, ask your doctor first and tell the therapist.
- What should I wear in the sauna?
- Bring swimwear. Towels are available to rent for $5. Towels are included when you add sauna to a massage.
Health and safety
- Can I have a massage if I am pregnant?
- Book our prenatal oil massage and tell us how many weeks you are when you call. Standard deep stretching Thai is not appropriate in pregnancy. Please check with your doctor if you have any concerns.
- What should I mention before we start?
- Injuries, recent surgery, blood clots, osteoporosis, high or low blood pressure, heart conditions, skin allergies, implants, and any area that should be avoided.
- When should I postpone?
- If you have a fever, feel unwell, or have been advised by a doctor not to have bodywork, please rebook.
Still unsure? Call 02 6251 6339.
